Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Throw & Tome (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit this website, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
The data controller is Throw & Tome, the publisher of this website. A contact form is coming soon; until then, see our contact page.
What we collect
- Visit statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are popular. It does not use cookies or similar storage on your device, and we only see aggregated figures, not individual visitors. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (understanding how the site is used so we can improve it).
- Server and security logs. Our host, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
- Messages you send us. If you contact us, we keep your address and message to reply and for our records, then delete them when no longer needed. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t run advertising cookies on this site. If that changes (for example, if we add display advertising), we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies.
Affiliate links and other websites
When you click an affiliate link (marked “AD”), you go to the retailer’s website, such as Amazon UK or Bookshop.org. The retailer or affiliate network (for example Awin) may then set cookies or use similar technology to record that you came from us, so they can pay us commission. That processing is controlled by them under their own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to read.
Where data is processed
Cloudflare may process data outside the UK. Where it does, it relies on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict our use of it, and to data portability. To use any of these rights, contact us via our contact page. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
