Affiliate disclosure
In short: we plan to earn money from some links on this site. When we do, those links are adverts, and we label them “AD”.
Right now, while our affiliate partnerships are being set up, product suggestions on this site are not links and earn us nothing. This page explains how things will work once they are.
What an affiliate link is
Some links on Throw & Tome are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a commission on that sale. The price you pay is the same as if you’d gone to the retailer directly.
How we label them
- Individual links: every affiliate link is marked with an AD label next to it, so you know before you click.
- Whole articles: when an article is entirely about products we link to with affiliate links (for example, most gift guides), it carries “AD” in its title on our listings and on the page itself, and a notice at the top of the article.
- Affiliate links use
rel="sponsored"so search engines know they are commercial.
Who we plan to work with
- Amazon UK: once accepted into the Amazon Associates programme, we will state: “As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.”
- Bookshop.org (UK): through the Awin affiliate network. Bookshop.org also passes money to independent bookshops from its sales.
- Other UK retailers, through affiliate networks such as Awin. We’ll name each one on this page when we start working with them.
Our editorial rules
- Retailers and brands don’t pay to be included, and they don’t see or approve articles before publication.
- We don’t write fake reviews or invent personal experiences. If we haven’t used a product ourselves, we don’t pretend we have.
- We may include products that earn us nothing if we think they’re the better choice.
- If we ever publish paid or sponsored content, or receive free products, we’ll label it clearly as an advert.
